Reputable Italian publication Gazzetta have today reported Lazio are lining up Odsonne Edouard as a potential replacement for Felipe Caicedo with the striker stalling on a new deal.

It has been quiet on the Edouard front when it has come to transfer stories when you consider Celtic’s leaked document from back in June suggested Celtic were expecting to field offers for the striker.

With just four days left until the transfer window closes this news item has popped up in Italy to give us just a bit more window anxiety.

Edouard has been our big game player and has done very well since signing permanently last summer. The frontman continues to show his class in front of goal and is a huge asset to the team.

There’s no doubt the player will go on to make a more lucrative move in the future but we’re hoping the Gazzetta either have their wires crossed or Celtic are sensible enough to recognise there’s no time to replace Eddy.

We lost Moussa on the final days of last summer’s window, we don’t want to see a repeat.

You would think this is typical mischief making by the usual suspects in the run up to the Glasgow Derby, but the source of the rumour would suggest that’s not the case here.
