ODSONNE EDOUARD doesn’t book or speak much English so there’s more than a chance someone told him about Charlie Nicholas and his idiotic comments today targeting his on-field demeanour.

The Celtic striker has been on fire for the Hoops – so much so all that Charlie could charge him with was celebrating too quietly.

Seriously? He comes all the way from France, settles in well, becomes Celtic’s most expensive player – banging in the goals and he gets pulled up because he’s not smiling enough after he scores a match winning goal. What planet is Charlie Nicholas on?

When things are bad at Celtic Charlie’s quiff must tingle with anticipation as to what he can write about his former club. When things are good then the result is today’s drivel in SunSport.

The Sky Sports man could have chosen to be positive, he could have hailed the frontman for some of his vital goals, not just this season but last. However, he made the effort to have another dig at a Celtic player and it’s tiresome.

It was last week when we put out ‘We need to talk about Charlie Nicholas’ when he decided to tell everyone Celtic would get nothing against Rennes because we’re too scared away from home. It turns out that was ill-advised and instead of holding his hands up he doubled down with his anti-Eddy nonsense.

The guy is a cartoon character more interested in appeasing his pals in England than be positive of anything up at Celtic.

Edouard’s response was unexpected but brilliant. To coin a very famous overused Nicholas phrase – Edouard must have been sitting here and thinking, what and who the f*** is Charlie Nicholas? Strikers usually get stick for not scoring goals, Eddy being singled out for banging them in and not celebrating as much as Charlie does when a new tanning salon opens near his house.

Charlie, you need to calm down.

Nobody wants to be Charlie Nicholas but everybody wants to be Edouard.
