Celtic were one of the first clubs through the door to the knockout stage of the Europa League – qualifying with two games to spare on a special night in Italy.
The bhoys weren’t given a chance before kick-off and after Lazio scored an early goal it looked bleak for the Scottish Champions. However, this resilient Celtic don’t know when they’re beaten and Lazio should know that. A goal from James Forrest and the 94th-minute winner from Ntcham put Celtic through with Cluj beating Rennes to stay second.
On the night in the early kick-offs, it was Celtic, Sevilla and Basel who all got through and in the later 8pm starts – Man Utd and Espanyol joined the trio in the knockout phase.
When the group was drawn it looked a daunting task for Celtic and we were really putting emphasis on our home games. We’ve played two home and two away getting six from six in Paradise and four from six at Rennes and Lazio.
The official UEFA Europa League account gave Celtic a lot of attention on the night.
