South Korean striker Oh joined Celtic in January but the form of a certain Kyogo has predominantly kept the South Korean out of Ange Postecoglou’s starting lineup.

Oh has scored three goals for the Hoops in limited minutes thus far but is looking to contribute to a greater extent in the coming weeks and months according to his international manager, Jurgen Klinsmann.

The German, who took charge of South Korea at the end of February this year, ran the rule over the big striker a few weeks ago as Celtic travelled to Kilmarnock and has said he was taken aback by Oh.

Klinsmann also told the Daily Record that Oh said he wants to earn a more significant role in Glasgow:

“I went to the Celtic game and Oh Hyeon-gyu was very impressive. At the moment, he doesn’t get a lot of playing time at Celtic, but he confirmed to me how hungry he is to fight to try and get a place in the team.

“We met and discussed his development. It was a beneficial time for me to meet the European players. He is a very strong-willed young man. I told him it was important to understand the environment in which he now lives and to fit into it. I am sure he will get more opportunities in the future.”

Going forward, Oh will look to get more minutes at Celtic going into the end of the season.

It has been extremely hard for him to get regular game time up to this point due to Kyogo’s presence although if and when the league title is wrapped up, we may see the 22 year old come into the fray a bit more.
