The Barrowfield Training complex, which was formerly used for the Hoops first-team, is set to undergo renovations to become a more ‘modern facility’.

Currently, the training ground is thought to be used by the Celtic Women’s side. But after a few years of renovations being spoken about, plans appear to be underway to give the training complex a more modern look.

Plans were first released in the summer of 2019, but now on the Project Scotland website, it has given fans more of an insight into what Barrowfield might look like in the not so distant future.

The new building will have six team changing rooms and a further two for officials. Whilst also having a gym, reception, first aid room and office.

In the report, the plans submitted by Ryden on behalf of the club state:

“The proposed new changing facilities and gym are to replace these existing facilities as they no longer meet the club’s requirements. These new facilities will ensure modern fit for purpose facilities are available, meeting the requirement of Celtic FC and also importantly football governing bodies.”

At Lennoxtown, the training facilities are modern and up to the standards, a club like Celtic should be holding.

This provides another training base that can be used by the first-team, women’s side and youth teams as we look to continue the development at all ages within the club.

It is good to see the club making moves like this, to keep things such as training facilities at the highest level for all groups at Celtic.
