Oliver Sørensen has spoken for the first time after completing his move to Celtic and revealed he turned to former Hoops defender Erik Sviatchenko for advice before making the switch to Glasgow.
The 24-year-old’s arrival was confirmed earlier this evening, with Sørensen joining the Scottish champions from Parma on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
The Danish midfielder arrived in Italy in August 2025 after spending five years with FC Midtjylland.
During his time in Denmark, the Dane crossed paths with Erik Sviatchenko, who now plays in the MLS.
He now has the chance to experience life at Celtic Park and believes the club’s attacking style will suit his game.
Speaking to Celtic Player after completing the move, Sørensen said: “I feel lucky to be a part of this club now, and I hope the style of play can suit me.
“It’s attacking football. They want to attack and they want to go forward. They want to push the opposing team down in their box. So, I hope I can contribute and help the team to do that.
“I love to attack, I love to run, I love to defend and I love to tackle, so I’m ready to give 100 per cent, and I can’t wait to be at Celtic Park for the first time.”
Sørensen has also already sought some local knowledge after speaking to former Celtic player Sviatchenko about his move.
The Danish defender spent two years at Celtic and made nearly 50 appearances for the club before returning to Denmark.
Sørensen revealed the former Hoops star congratulated him on the move and offered to help him settle into his new surroundings.
“I spoke to him and was messaging a bit, and he congratulated me for this move and wished me good luck,” Sørensen said.
“I should call him in a few days to get all the good places to go and eat and all this stuff!”
Sørensen now joins a Celtic midfield which is undergoing significant change.
Arne Engels left for West Ham earlier this month, while Reo Hatate’s future remains the subject of speculation.
The Danish midfielder’s arrival provides Martin O’Neill with another option in the middle of the park as Celtic prepare for a Europa League campaign alongside their domestic commitments.
And after getting the move over the line, Sørensen is now looking forward to experiencing Celtic Park for himself.
