OLIVIER NTCHAM has spoken out for the first time about the interest in him back in the summer and why he has decided to sign a new deal with the club.

The French under 21 joined Celtic just over a year ago and helped the bhoys to a double treble in his first season.

Amid lots of speculation this summer and some very real interest from Porto, some people thought the player was destined to leave sooner rather than later.

The Portuguese club tried their best to persuade Celtic to sell and Ntcham reveals he’s flattered by the interest but is loving life in Scotland.

“I’m happy when I hear that. It means that I had been doing great work.” Ntcham told the Record Sport.

“I felt as though I had a great last season and it was like winning a trophy for me to hear this, so I was pleased with that.”

“When the market was closed, we spoke about that [interest from Porto], but the manager, myself the agent and the club all spoke and we decided to have a talk to sign the new deal.

“It wasn’t difficult for me to concentrate because I am just focused on the pitch.”

Celtic never accepted a bid, but they didn’t need or feel under pressure to because Ntcham himself rejected the interest.

This is in stark contrast to what local village idiot Kris Boyd was trying to push on Sky Sports two months ago.

Along with a supposed split in the dressing room, the former Ibrox striker told us Ntcham wanted out – does he, aye?

The player’s new four-year deal is on improved terms and will ensure when the time comes for the midfielder to move on, Celtic will get a large fee.
