Celtic midfielder Ismaila Soro has received his first call-up to the men’s Ivory Coast National Side.

The 23-year old was rewarded with a selection for his national side in a 24-man squad for their two friendlies against Burkina Faso and Ghana next month.

This season has very much been a strange one all around for the club, including players like Ismaila Soro.

Around November/December time, the Ivorian came into the side and impressed in a run of games, including starting at Ibrox ahead of captain Scott Brown.

Overall he featured 23 times and was even rewarded goal of the season for his one effort, against Dundee United in the final fixture of 2020

Next season could be a big one for Soro, who many could be looking to fill the boots of the departing Scott Brown in midfield.

As a young midfielder, he has shown the qualities and potential to do so. But questions will be asked as to whether he can do it on a move regular basis across a whole campaign.

With the sort of character we have known to grow and love from Soro, I am sure he will be absolutely delighted with this latest call-up and will be looking to focus on that.
