Celtic will return to domestic action this weekend as they take on Motherwell at Celtic Park.

The Hoops had got the season off to a great start having won every game in the league until the match against St Mirren before the international break.

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou made a total of six changes to the decide as they were beaten 2-0 by St Mirren.

It hadn’t been the first time there had been wholesale changes made to the team with Postecoglou previously making a total of nine in the 4-1 victory away to Ross County in the Premier Sports Cup.

Although the result may have been disappointing it is hoped that Celtic press the restart button and learn lessons from the miserable performance in Paisley.

The Scottish champions were very active in the summer market bringing in a total of nine first team players to help booster the squad.

This gave Postecoglou strength in depth with him being given the option of flexibility with the former Socceroos manager not having that luxury too much last season.

Many didn’t understand why players were rested before the international break but one game doesn’t make them bad players.

With Celtic about to kick-off a stretch of 13 games in 43 days, the squad will be vitally important and will be used throughout this run of fixtures.

Whether there is as many as six changes made will still to be seen, but Celtic can still use the five subs rule to their advantage to make sure there is rotation in the team.

When players are given a chance by the manager they must come in and perform to stake their case in the team.
