Martin O’Neill has revealed that Kieran Tierney did not go off with cramp against Falkirk at Celtic Park.
However, the Celtic boss revealed that it was not cramp and admitted he is unsure of the extent of the issue, which he believes could be similar to the problem that kept Kasper Høgh out of this afternoon’s 2-1 win.
He said: (BBC Sport Scotland), “I thought it was cramp he’d had, but it wasn’t. I think he’s got a bit… He looks quite similar to Kasper in that sense.
“I’m genuinely not sure at this minute.
“I need to find out from the physios and the medical staff about how that is, but we’ll see.”
Celtic currently do not have a natural back-up left-back, with Liam Scales often asked to play there when Tierney is absent or substituted. The Irishman previously featured at left-back when he joined the Hoops, but is now more regularly used at centre-back.
CeltsAreHere understands a deal for left-back Landon Emenalo is all but agreed, and once he is fully fit, a loan move until the end of the season with no option to buy is expected to be completed. The youngster has already visited Lennoxtown in recent weeks.
For O’Neill, Tierney missing any extended period would be a blow, especially with Aberdeen visiting Celtic Park on Wednesday and such a short turnaround between games.
The Hoops will hope it is only a minor setback and nothing that keeps the left-back out for any length of time.
