At the beginning of June, Celtic were linked with a move for John Hughes to take over the newly formed Celtic colts who will ply their trade in the Scottish lowland league next season.

Glasgow Times reported the former Hoops defender was in the frame for the job after John left Ross County at the end of last season.

As Celtic prepare for a massive rebuild, bringing John into the club would be a no-brainer for me.

Hughes done a fantastic job with Ross County when he was brought in to save them from the drop. The manager loves working with young talented players and could really give our youth prospects a real sense of discipline.

There’s also scope for John to work in the first team set up at points.

We need talented people at the club and Hughes ticks all the boxes. The former defender has the experience to really up Celtic’s youth game and get players prepared for the rigours of first team football.

He worked really well with a Leo Hjelde while the player was on loan to Ross County and could continue to help the Norwegian develop this season.

I hope Celtic are seriously considering a move for the coach and if we can bring him in, it could spark a youth revolution that will pay dividends in the the not too distant future.
