All the news today has surrounded Eddie Howe, as reports begin to suggest he could be getting closer to becoming the next permanent manager of Celtic.

With that appointment, it would be seen as a major coup by the club with heavy interest in the English manager from down south. Howe has even recently turned down two roles at current EPL sides.

One question that could be asked with the appointment of the 43-year old is could he convince any of the stars who may have thought about leaving the club this summer. One in particular – Kristoffer Ajer.

There are several players who are almost certain to leave with Odsonne Edouard being one of those after his four-year stay at the club. As of recently, Ajer may have been seen as in the same vein as Eddy. However, with the possibility of the former Bournemouth manager coming in, there is certainly a conversation to be had.

Ajer has been seen as a key component of the Celtic defence in the last few seasons and probably even one of the better performers this season, despite it being an incredibly poor campaign.

In the summer, he is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract so a decision needs to be made in the coming months. But convincing the Norweigan to stay for another season and signing an extension would be another huge boost for the club going forward.
