Celtic’s SPFL rivals Hibernian have appointed former St Mirren and Sunderland boss Jack Ross as their new manager, replacing Paul Heckingbottom who didn’t survive a year in the role after taking over from Neil Lennon.

There is one player currently on Celtic books who will now come into sharp focus this January with the appointment at Easter Road.

Lewis Morgan.

It was last January, Jack Ross took Morgan to Sunderland on loan for six months where they ultimately failed to get promoted after a top start. Lewis did well on loan and gained a lot of experience.

Ross brought the Celtic player in because he had also worked with Lewis at St Mirren where they earned promotion together before both left the club.

Sacked from Sunderland, the manager has found a very quick return to football and when he looks to bring in some players in January, we would be shocked if Morgan’s name didn’t come up.

Celtic have used the winger sparingly and fans have him down the totem pole at the minute. Many arguing Scott Sinclair should be in ahead of Lewis. Could Ross and Morgan link up at Hibernian and give the winger’s Celtic hopes a shot in the arm?

Ryan Christie is proof if you wait your chance and put the work in when on loan to another SPFL club you can make the breakthrough.
