Newcastle have been linked with a move for Kristoffer Ajer for quite some time. SunSport are now reporting the EPL side are getting serious in their pursuit of the defender.
According to reports, the English club are ready to test Celtic’s resolve but only to the tune of £8m.
To be honest, it doesn’t sound like they’re getting serious if they believe Ajer will head out for £8m.
Newcastle would have to wait all summer and hope no other clubs came in for the Norway international.
It’s not a secret Kristoffer sees his future elsewhere but the club have to do what’s best for Celtic and £8m is not in our best interests.
The Rebuild is underway behind the scenes but we’ve yet to see any major movement. Loan players have returned to their clubs and we’ve got guys like Shved and Hendry coming back into the fold.
If Ajer isn’t at Celtic next season, it will be unlikely £8m was the final fee.
