17th of April 2017. Celtic were eliminated from the Scottish Cup at the semi-final stage after losing on penalties to rivals Rangers.

This date could arguably be seen as one of the most important in the clubs modern history despite the nature of the result, as it kick-started a run of four trebles in a row.

A day like today should be similar to that.

When Dermot Desmond saw the celebrations of directors, players and fans of the opposition that day he was forced into action by appointing a manager like Brendan Rodgers.

Seeing scenes of fans celebrating across the city today really should be that wake-up call, similar to 2016 that kicks the board into action after such a poor campaign.

It shouldn’t take stuff like this for the board to realise what needs to be done but if it does then hopefully it can help us kickstart another spell of success in Scotland.

The job that the club has on its hands with the up and coming rebuild is absolutely massive, so the pressure really is on to get it right and get the club back to where it belongs.
