Call us cynical, BUT the report out today claiming Celtic are interested in Renato Tapia appears like a flimsy attempt to whip up interest in the out of contract star.

The outgoing Feyenoord player’s father has been quoted as saying his son has interest from both sides of Glasgow as well as further afield.

However, until today, there has been no word of Celtic making a move for Renato.

Not to say this can’t be the case but whenever you hear both sides are interested it’s because the player has been offered to both clubs by agents on his behalf.

The defensive utility man’s Father seemed adamant, Glasgow was an option.

“I’ve read the reports saying that Renato has agreed to sign for Celta Vigo and they are not true.” Told SunSport.

“There are a number of clubs interested in him, including both Celtic and Rangers from Scotland and Angers in France.

“For the moment, he will see his contract out with Feyenoord and will continue to train there.

“Nothing has been decided about his next move and we are waiting on more offers.”

Celtic are in the middle of trying to their players back to Lennoxtown, juggle contracts, tv deals, virtual season tickets and negotiate a transfer window.

The normal preparation for a season out the window with the current situation.

There will be incomings this summer and if Celtic want to have them training with the squad ASAP, they know a 14 day quarantine period will have to be observed for anybody coming into the country.
