Celtic are sitting pretty in Europe, the league and have already got a trophy in the cabinet under Neil Lennon so the transfer window this January is a chance for Celtic to add to the quality they already have instead of needing major surgery.

Nicky Hammond has been brought into the club to unearth talent from unusual places and bring in players we’ve likely not heard of – but is January a time to revisit some old faces?

From where most fans are sitting – a defender, midfielder and striker is needed for the second half of the season. The frontman coming in could be the place where Hammond could weave some of his magic, however, we have a defender and central midfielder on our radar already who could come in and do the business for the bhoys over the next six months.

Filip Benkovic and David Turnbull would be two players I’d be keen for Celtic to revisit. Filip has not had any game time with high flying Leicester under his old Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers – injury has hurt his chances but in reality, Rodgers has discarded the Croatian. Could Celtic swoop for the centre-back who only back in May claimed Neil Lennon wanted him to stay at Celtic?

Turnbull is the interesting one. From where I sit, Celtic went all out to try and sign this lad in the summer only to be thwarted by an injury which needed immediate surgery. Celtic even tried to do a deal after they found the injury but it wasn’t to be. The player is now off crutches and has upped his recovery – it could be February before David is back on the field but could it be for the Hoops?
