MARK WILSON has claimed that if Odsonne Edouard was to be signed by Newcastle it wouldn’t faze the Frenchman at all.

We believe that’s a really nice way of saying he’s above Newcastle’s level.

Speaking about rumours which have been doing the rounds, Wilson, a former Celt himself, has spoken about the possibility of Edouard moving on by the time next season gets going.

The ex-defender points out the support would love to see Edouard stay and help win the ten but as carrots go, he believes foreign players don’t see it like that.

We’d go one further and say Kieran Tierney, a homegrown Celtic fan didn’t see it like that so when it comes to anyone else, all bets are off!

“There’s no doubt that Newcastle is a huge club with a huge fanatical fanbase.” Wilson told SunSport.

“I don’t think that would faze him in anyway and I think he could handle the level of where Newcastle are playing just now.

“Whether it’s the right move for him just now, it’s very difficult to say. He’s been exceptional over the last few years.

“If he stays for another year, you become something extra special at Celtic if you go on and win that tenth title in a row. That means the world to the Celtic fans.

“I’m not sure if foreign players see it that way though. I know they love the club and everything that comes with Celtic, but I’m not so sure it means as much to them winning ten Scottish league titles in a row as it does to born and bred Celtic fans.

“The lure of the Premier League might just be too much.

“Not many clubs are bigger than Celtic, but when the lure of a big league comes your way where these boys can go and further their careers, that could become a real pulling point.

“If the money is right, it’s a big decision for Celtic and Peter Lawwell.”

If the money is right, and the player wants to leave, we know the outcome already. We’re banking on the club actively trying to tie Eddy down to a new, much bigger deal, in the hope he’ll stick around just a little bit longer.

Right now, with the season on hold, everything is up in the air. We hope the club do their best to at least attempt to keep Edouard for the ten.

As for Newcastle, Wilson might want to be diplomatic but he’s much too good for a team on their level.
