The news today that Celtic are in talks with both Bayer Leverkusen and Leicester about selling their biggest assets in Kristoffer Ajer and Odsonne Edouard appear to be Peter Lawwell’s attempt to finish up some high profile business before leaving his role.

Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano broke the Eddy story on social media. While Sky Sports have confirmed talks are on going with Bayer Leverkusen.

Lawwell is three weeks away from leaving his role as Celtic’s chief executive and there’s a lot to be getting on with. Once the clock strikes midnight at the end of this month Dominic McKay becomes the man.

Peter is clearly trying to clear the deck for Dom taking over and that means selling high profile players to help fund a rebuild.

Anyone we’ve spoken to about Peter in the past who have had dealings with him paint him as a shrewd negotiator but also a micro manager. There’s very little that gets past Peter at Celtic and autonomy is at a premium.

The vibes we’re getting from McKay appear to be different and the new CEO wants this to be a collective effort – bringing departments together for the betterment of the club.

It’s going to be a different approach for sure.

Future Stars – ISMAILA SORO (Pin, Backing Card)

We appear to be days away from the manager being announced and his staff will be in place before the end of the month. Selling two of our top stars for big money also look likely, will Peter deliver one more final twist to land a signing or two before heading off into the sunset? I wouldn’t rule it out.
