ANGE POSTECOGLOU opted for Giakoumakis and Abada to start against Real Madrid on matchday one of the Champions league. As we get geared for our first away day in the competition, I can’t shake the feeling he’s about to ring in the changes up top.

Kyogo had come off within the first few minutes of the Glasgow Derby just days before the Champions League opener. It’s hard not to believe that was a factor in Ange starting Giakoumakis on the night against Madrid.

With over a weeks worth of training in his legs, Ange knows Kyogo should be ready to go and I believe the Australian will pick the Japanese star up top.

If Kyogo is chosen to lead the line, I see Daizen Maeda also coming in for his first ever start in the Champions League.

Away from home, Ange playing both would be a statement of intent and the idea to press Shakhtar from the off. Maeda is relentless at closing down and so is Kyogo. The only thing is, Jota could be displaced from the left to accommodate. That’s not a guarantee because we have saw Maeda on the right this season. Both Daizen and Kyogo have pretty good synergy, having both up top seems like the right move.

Giakoumakis put in an energy zapping shift against Real and Liel was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. We have so many talented players up top, we can’t start them all. Ange talks about using his entire squad and those two could be pivotal in the overall result coming from the bench.

Who do you think should start?
