Celtic defeated Rangers by a goal to nil on Sunday afternoon thanks to a terrific strike from talismanic forward Kyogo Furuhashi. The Japanese forward was one of several standouts in the Hoops’ team.

Liam Scales was nothing but solid at the back, although there was an experienced Hoops’ duo who more than played their part in today’s win. Somewhat under-fire going into the game, both Callum McGregor and Joe Hart stood up and were counted.

Many supporters had been critical of the captain’s performances this season so far, but today, he led by example. In midfield, the 30-year-old controlled the match and set the tempo. He played several forward-thinking balls and was tough in the tackle.

We saw the Callum McGregor of past seasons today and alongside him, Joe Hart was equally formidable. Although fans wanted a new number one in the door this summer, the Englishman stepped up to the plate today.

Between the sticks, Hart made numerous pivotal saves and was commanding inside his box. The 36-year-old came off his line at the correct times to prevent the Gers from getting into one-on-one situations, and despite facing an xGOT (expected goals from opposition shots on target) of 1.04, managed to keep a clean sheet.

The ex-England international showed today that he still has vast amounts of ability despite his age. His and McGregor’s contributions and experience were crucial this afternoon as the Bhoys secured a monumental derby day win.
