Moritz Bauer has said his goodbyes to the club this afternoon, confirming Celtic won’t be taking up the option to sign the player.

The defender came in as backup right-back for Hatem Elhamed in the summer transfer window but was quickly usurped by the up and coming Jeremie Frimpong. While both Hatem and Jeremie were out injured the defender did get some game time but never really got going in a Celtic jersey.

Celtic had the option to make it a permanent deal at the end of the loan period but have decided not to exercise that option. The player has sent a classy message to the club and support.

We hope to see Mortiz flourish elsewhere. He was quite a character and his language skills meant he was popular in the Celtic dressing room.

Hopefully he can get a chance at Stoke City.

Celtic are pressing on with shaping their squad for next season. We heard earlier today, Moi Elyounoussi looks set to sign another loan deal with the club while we’re still waiting on word on Fraser Forster.
