NEIL LENNON has came out fighting after he and his team have been criticised in the wake of back to back draws in the SPFL. With the league title so close to being won, the bhoys have stuttered in the last two games meaning the champagne is still on ice.

Celtic players and the interim Parkhead boss have been under intense scrutiny, not just from the media but a large section of the fanbase but Neil Lennon thinks people have gone over the top.

Speaking to CelticTV ahead of the Kilmarnock game on Saturday, the Irishman was defending his players and the results since January.

“Our form is the same as last season, in fact it’s better – we drew 0-0 to Dundee then won 2-1 at Hamilton, won the semi-final then lost to Hibs”

“In fact our form is better but people seem to be making a big issue of it

“I’m just looking for consistency and standard to be maintained from here on in

“We’re unbeaten since January, we’ve conceded three goals and all of a sudden there’s this wave of criticism towards myself and the players which I think is way over the top”

The nature of the beast means any dropped points for Celtic is going to evoke a reaction, especially at this stage of the season.

Neil knows he’s under more scrutiny than any other time in his Celtic career with his audition to become the Celtic manager again taking place in a very public way.

Performances under Neil Lennon are under as much examination as the result itself. A big performance on Saturday will go a long way for the Irishman.

  1. I would say the majority of the Celtic support don’t want Lennon as the manager. He’s big backward step and a disaster waiting to happen. Mark my words.
