On Sunday morning, it was widely touted by SunSport that Celtic had been in-talks with Steve Hitchen about a potential advisory role at the club.

SunSport ran the story after Steve was spotted in the stands when Celtic took on Hibernian at the weekend.

The former Liverpool and Spurs scout triggered rumours of a potential link up. The Sun’s story claimed Ange wanted Hitchen into the club to help with recruitment.

By late afternoon, CeltsAreHere discovered there was no such move for Hitchen. There was nothing even in the pipeline when it came to the former footballer.

Instead of correcting their story, the Sun have taken the page offline.

Online news can be fast and competitive. Sometimes papers jump the gun and out two and two together to come up with five. It happens, but usually we see corrections. This time we just have it taken down.

The article itself suggested Ange was all for a move that was never even brought up. Someone will certainly be feeling silly this evening.

As far as we’re aware, there’s nobody on the horizon to come in and fill a scouting role. Ange, Mark Lawwell and Michael Nicholson are in constant discussions about potential signings.
