Reports overnight suggest the null and void option for the season will be taken off the table next week with a series of meetings planned to determine the best way forward for the current season.

RecordSport is reporting the SPFL and SFA will chair several meetings next week off the back of the decision by the Belgian league to cut the season short and crown Brugge champions.

The paper also states that if the seasons cannot go on – Celtic will likely be declared champions.

‘Record Sport understands if a decision is made to pull the plug on the current campaign Celtic will almost certainly be crowned champions with immediate effect.’

The null and void scenario has never really been on the table and has been more of a fantasy used in certain quarters to feminism any title win.

The facts are there and Celtic are so far out in front.

People using a worldwide pandemic as a weapon to get a league declared null and void for their own end is pretty pathetic.

For the record, if this outcome does come to pass, it robs many Celts of that special moment of hearing the final whistle when nine in a row was confirmed.

This is not the ideal situation but we must look to do what’s best for our game so when we can get back to playing – it’s as seamless as possible.

The first meeting is scheduled for Monday.

  1. It’s a great thing in principle, but in the Spfl it’s eleven Vs One. Just like match days away from Paradise. Be a nice correct desision though, done dusted until restart.
