GIRONA has won the Supercopa de Catalunya, a game organised by the Catalan Football Federation since 2014 for football clubs in Catalonia.

The match pits the two top-rated Catalonian teams in La Liga against each other.

It takes place every two years and so far only Barcelona and Espanyol have participated in the event, that was until tonight when a tenacious Girona side beat Barcelona.

The Catalan giants fielded a young side for the most part with a few first team players sprinkled in. Paddy Roberts started the match and impressed on a night where his teammate Cristhian Stuani’s penalty made all the difference on the night.

Roberts has been at Girona all season after cutting ties with Celtic at the end of last season. The midfielder is just getting back to his best after missing a lot of this season through injury.

When the attacking midfielder does head back to Manchester City in the summer there will be only one-year left on his City deal. Another loan move won’t be an option and it will be time for Roberts to make up his mind what his next move is going to be.

  2. I think the Roberts ships has sailed. He won’t be back, unless we get another EPL-level manager in. We don’t need him anyway, we’re hardly struggling!
