Former on-loan Celtic and Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts has made a return for his second spell on a season-long loan at English Championship side Middlesbrough.

The Englishman spent the second half of last season in the North of England, after a failed move in the first half of the season at Norwich City in the Premier League.

Roberts was very much a fans-favourite over his two and a half years in Scotland for his trickery, ability to beat a fan and also being capable of scoring some unbelievable goals.

Many Celtic supporters also believe that Roberts was the key reason that current winger, James Forrest was able to hit his top form that we have seen in the last few years because of the pressure he put on him to perform because if he hadn’t, Roberts was there, ready to pounce on that right-wing position.

A lot of fans have also called many times for the return of the 23-year old on a permanent transfer, with him struggling to get any sort of chance at Man City and going out on loan after loan.

Who knows, maybe one day we will see the return of Paddy to the club which he has had his best spell at and clearly loved his time here. But for this season, he will be spending it on-loan at Neil Warnock’s Middlesbrough side.
