Patrick Roberts was a great player for Celtic, especially during his first spell with the club.
However, since Celtic, he’s played for numerous clubs, unable to find a new home with regular minutes.
Joining Sunderland in January, he was impressive at the Stadium of Light and was pivotal in their promotion push for his side. Roberts scored the winning goal that saw the side progress to the play-off final, which they won.
As a reward for his great play, Sunderland has handed Roberts a two-year deal, seeing Roberts potentially stay until the summer of 2024.
✍️ He’s here to stay.

Sunderland will want to push hard again this season after a disappointing few years they’ll be keen to reinstate themselves in England’s top flight.
Wasted Talent
Paddy Roberts was some player at Celtic, he wasn’t the paciest, but his skill and technical ability allowed him to stay ahead of the defence.
The former Manchester City winger was set to have a great career in football, now, aged 25, he’s not quite lived up to expectations. He’ll hope he can kick on at Sunderland as he reaches the peak of his career.
