Former Celtic loanee, Patrick Roberts has once again missed out on the Middlesbrough squad this afternoon that will take on Birmingham City.

As reported by Gazette Live, Roberts has struggled for game time so far this season in the English Championship which has prompted manager Neil Warnock to talk about the possibility of sending him back to Manchester City.

Roberts was once a fan favourite at the hoops so if he was sent back to his parent club, I am sure many of the Celtic faithful would be delighted to take him back to Glasgow.

With the Bhoys current need for a right-winger too, it may be the perfect storm to try and bring the Englishman back to the club once again. There’s no firm indication Celtic are interested but Neil Lennon would be foolish to pass on the midfielder if he became available in January.

Some fans may say he hasn’t done much in his time away from the club but sometimes a player just suits a club and that club is Celtic for Patrick Roberts.

There is no doubt that he has talent, so why not at the very least take a chance with a six-month loan to show what he can do again, before possibly pursuing him on a permanent.

  1. I take it you are joking? He had umpteen chances to return but chose to go elsewhere. Like Forster, he may have boosted his bank balance at the expense of a career with Celtic.
We are demeaning Celtic by continiously linking ourselves with players who have effectively given us the vickys. Have we no pride left?
