There was never a real transfer link between the player and the club this summer but while Paddy Robert’s still plays for Manchester City, who have no desire to play him in the first team, there’s always going to be a Celtic interest – even if it’s from the fans.

Patrick spent the second half of last season on-loan to Middlesbrough and according to SunSport, after weeks of speculation, the winger will head back there and play under Neil Warnock.

Robert’s spent two and a half years at Celtic on loan and played a major role in the invincible season. His loan spells in Spain, Norwich and ‘Boro since have been blighted by injury and frustration.

It’s been common knowledge the midfielder would head out again this summer and it gave way to some hope it would be to the Scottish Champions on such a pivotal season.

A source at the club confirmed to us that there has never been any contact between Celtic and City over Robert’s this window.

It should be all hands on deck and to be fair if we landed Paddy it would have been a huge shot in the arm. However, the club hasn’t even looked into the prospect of a reunion.
