PAUL LAMBERT has hailed Celtic for their latest piece of transfer business as the bhoys sealed a season-long loan move for Shane Duffy.

The former Champions League winner and Celtic icon believe Celtic have got themselves a player who will give everything for the cause over the next 10 months.

Speaking to BBC Scotland Radio as cited by SunSport, Lambert said:

“He’s wholehearted, he’ll throw his body into things.

“It’s a great signing. He will head things you think people aren’t even going to put a foot in for.

“They’re getting someone who is proper physical. He will put his body on the line, that’s for sure.

“I’m pretty sure Shane will thrive in the atmosphere when the fans come back.

“But it will be the first time in his career that he is going to have to win every game. That’s the difference.

“I saw great players coming to Celtic and capitulating because they couldn’t handle the crowd.

“If you thrive on it, you’ll love it, if you think it will be a millstone round your neck, you’ll struggle.”

Duffy will come in and could be an automatic pick straight off the bat. He is an old school defender, he’s there to deal with the physical side of the game. Celtic have Kristoffer Ajer and Christopher Jullien to get the ball out of defence and up the field.

The Celtic fans have been crying out for a no-nonsense defender and Shane fits the bill, the fact he’s a Celtic fan is the icing on the cake for many.

Celtic take on Ross County on a week on Saturday, where fans could get their first glimpse of the Irishman in the famous Hoops.
