Former Celtic player Paul Slane has made a return to football after being without a club since 2016.

Celtic signed the winger from Motherwell, hoping the young lad would break through into the first team. The highly-rated winger had loan spells away from the club and a few injuries; he made the headlines for the wrong reasons while on a trip to Amsterdam.

He was released from Celtic in 2013,  a year before his contract was up.

After a break from football, he returned and has played for a few clubs before quitting the game after he left Clyde in 2016.

Now, Slaney will return to the Broadwood Stadium, representing another club, Open Goal Broomhill FC.

After appearing on Si Ferry’s Open Goal Podcast for many years, the duo have teamed up as they prepare to lead the side to glory. Si Ferry has been busy so far this summer, gearing up for his first season in management.

The winger will take up a player/coach role.

Slane could face Celtic, with the Colts meeting Broomhill at least twice this season.

Slaney’s Return

It’ll be interesting to see how heavily the winger features this season; he’s not getting any younger and has been out of the game for a long time.

It’ll be a good watch with Si Ferry managing the side, despite many people’s differing opinions on the set-up. It’s a competitive league, but with the money Open Goal Broomhill are spending, you’d expect them, to be pushing near the top of the table.
