This week, we presented an analysis of SPFL penalties, providing an overview of which clubs have been conceding the most spot-kicks so far this term.

It made for interesting reading, and many people have since requested the table for penalties received by all top-flight Scottish clubs.

Ask, and you shall receive.

Here is the league table for penalties received since the beginning of the season:

Livingston 8

Aberdeen 8

Hearts 8

Rangers 5

Motherwell 5

St Mirren 4

Haksabanovic

St Johnstone 4

Dundee Utd 3

Celtic 2

Hibs 2

Ross County 1

Kilmarnock 1

It’s absolutely incredible Celtic are only sitting on two spot kicks for the season. The bhoys are by far the best team in the league and spend the most time in the opposition’s penalty area. There’s absolutely no doubt Celtic should have more than two at this point in the season.

Hearts and two others are sitting on eight penalties; evidently, Hearts got the same number of penalties against Celtic at Tynecastle as the Hoops have had all season.

VAR has seen a sharp rise in the number of penalties handed out. There are now meetings taking place to try and solve the issue of how penalties are awarded – specifically around the handball rule.
