NEIL LENNON has tempered Celtic fans expectations about landing Mohamed Elyounolussi on a permanent deal next summer by pointing out the cost which would likely come with any deal for the midfielder.

Mohamed has done well since coming into the club but with Southampton forking out £16m for the player last summer – there’s no chance Celtic will get the midfielder on the cheap.

Usually, Celtic fans get their hopes up about signing loan players up on a permanent deal if they prove themselves but Neil Lennon wants to make sure the fans know Moi is probably here for just the season and to enjoy him while he’s at the club.

“He’s not our player, we are grateful to have him.” Lennon told CelticTV.

“So far, it’s worked out very well, we’re delighted with the contribution that he is making.

“That’s the way that he is playing, the added dimension that he has brought to the team but whether a permanent deal can be done further down the line I can’t answer that at the minute.”

The Celtic gaffer hasn’t said no but it’s clear he thinks any deal would be unlikely to come about. Celtic aren’t going to pay upwards of £10m for any player whether we like it or not.

Moi is exactly the type of player Celtic should be using the loan system for and he has a big part to play while he’s here.
