Reports from Portuguese outlet Abola have claimed talks are progressing between Celtic and Benfica over the permanent transfer of Jota.

The winger is currently out injured and back in Portugal where he’s being looked over by the Benfica physio team.

Any suggestion the loan deal would be cut short is far wide of the mark and both Celtic and Benfica want to do a deal.

The report claims £6.5m is the starting point for negotiations, hinting Celtic might be trying to bring that figure down or at least set up payment over a number of seasons.

Celtic fans would love to see Jota become their player on a permanent basis. If it happens in January, it will give the bhoys a massive boost.

Right now, we want the player to get fit and get back firing for this Celtic side.

The Hoops begin the second half of the season against Hibernian in January 17th. It will be interesting to see who is back fit by then.
