It’s being reported by RecordSport this morning that Peter Lawwell has been drafted in by the SPFL and SFA to take part in talks with the Scottish government about a return date for football in this country.

Peter Lawwell and Ross County chairman Roy McGregor will get to play their part in proceedings as the governing bodies pave a way back for football.

A ball hasn’t been kicked since March and with the season already called, we no look to next season.

Bosses want to firm up plans about when the game can return and the SFA have ambitions to start it on schedule by August but without supporters.

Peter Lawwell is very astute and there’s no doubt his influence at Friday’s meeting will play a huge part in how the game returns.

What doesn’t seem up for debate is crowds. There is unlikely to be mass gatherings in the near to medium future.
