CHARLIE NICHOLAS has been picking over the rubble of Celtic’s season so far and believes fans are looking for answers the club isn’t giving them.

More banners have been put up overnight outside Celtic Park and Lennoxtown with messages of sack the board and asking Neil Lennon to go.

Nicholas has Lennon pegged as a Martin O’Neill type, a presence at the club but not very hands on when it comes to the day to day of training.

The former Sky Sports pundit claiming Brendan Rodgers was a man with a vision which he, himself, implemented with the help of others.

“Neil’s turned to a 3-5-2 formation that Martin O’Neill employed while in charge.

“They are alike. Neil’s not really a coach, he is more of a presence. But the game is changing

Rodgers pummelled the players with the importance of getting the ball and moving it. It might have been a bit too slow at times, but it was successful to help create the dominance Celtic have enjoyed.

“That standard is melted away. And you can blame the board for letting it happen. But Neil is also culpable as he’s been too weak as things have got out of hand.”

Nicholas went onto to say he has disliked the leadership at the top for quite some time and has had personal abuse for making it known.

The biggest thing he mentioned in his express column as cited by RecordSport was he believes Peter Lawwell is set to step down at Celtic.

Something a lot of fans would like to see aver seventeen years at the helm. However, mentioning his potential replacement has us concerned.

” Celtic fans want answers and solutions but don’t seem to be getting any,” he added.

“And I’ve not liked the leadership of the club for a long time.

“I reckon chief executive Peter Lawwell will leave this season and I wouldn’t be surprised if one of major shareholder Dermot Desmond’s sons replaces him.

“I’ve seen Celtic’s demise coming and taken a lot of personal hits over this.”

If this becomes a family affair, Celtic fans could lose out further. One of Dermot’s sons sat at the AGM last year as proxy for his dad, so there could be something in this.

  1. I’d like to know how many of the sub standard players signed in the last 2 years Neil Lennon has wanted and how many have been foisted on him. Lawwell is the man who refused £11m for Boyata and wouldn’t pay £2.5m for McGann. Time to replace Lawwell.
