PETER LAWWELL has chosen to step aside from the SPFL board of representatives after being elected last year.

The Celtic chief executive bowed out of contention for being elected this time around and in his absence, these three men have been voted into the slots.

  • Alan Burrows (Motherwell)
  • Les Gray (Hamilton Academical)
  • Stewart Robertson (The Rangers)

The 42 member clubs got together to vote in their sic representatives for the season going forward, three for the SPFL clubs, two for the Championship and one for league one and two.

The clubs also voted on being able to utilise a fourth substitute in extra time for playoff games this season. This will also be allowed in the Bet Fred Cup.

Peter Lawwell has a lot of irons in the fire with his responsibilities as Celtic’s chief executive. His involvement with the ECA at this juncture is much more important than serving on the SPFL board. The ECA are currently trying to thwart plans to make the Champions League a closed shop.
