Celtic winger Jota has unveiled a striking new hairstyle as he continues his recovery from an ACL injury.
The Portuguese star has joined teammate Daizen Maeda in going blonde, sporting a freshly bleached short trim. It’s a bold change for the attacker, who is currently sidelined after suffering a serious knee injury away at Dundee United towards the end of last season.
Jota’s return to Celtic in January was one of the most surprising moves of the window, and fans are eager to see him back to his dazzling best. While he’s not expected to return to the pitch until early 2026, Brendan Rodgers recently revealed the winger is making steady progress in his rehab.
“And yes, the progress has come along really well. I think the first 12 weeks of that injury, it’s important that you get to a point where you can, in the nine to 12 weeks, that you’re able to straighten it. So he can do that. He was in the gym. So yes, he’s coming along well. Long, long way to go. But it’s good to see him.”
The new hair has sparked plenty of reaction online. Jota might be hoping to tap into Maeda’s relentless energy and form from last season with his new trim.
Jota, in a move to lighten the mood around the club, has decided to bleach his hair. Eye witness reports say that he “didn’t look injured” but based on the amount of minutes Yang and Forrest have clocked this season I am inclined to believe it. pic.twitter.com/4n0I2LK38f

Whatever the motivation behind the switch, there’s no doubt fans will be hoping the new look comes with some vintage performances once he’s back fit. With Celtic’s attacking depth under scrutiny following a rocky transfer window, Jota’s return could be a massive boost.
In the meantime, he’s already winning on the style front, even if the jury’s still out on whether blonde really does equal brilliance.
