Celtic fans had planned a protest against the board as they headed into the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final match against Partick Thistle on Sunday.
The fans have had a tough relationship with the club’s board over the past few seasons, but it’s reached boiling point in recent weeks.
As the players emerged from the tunnel, chants of ‘all Celtic fans against the board’ rang out in the Jackie Husband Stand, where Celtic fans were situated.
Fans had held up banners, calling for the dismissal of three of Celtic’s directors. Peter Lawwell, Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay are under pressure from much of the fan base to step aside.
The protest had delayed the kick-off a few minutes.
Celtic fans are demanding accountability and answers, with an open letter penned to the board along with a vote of no confidence. Despite Celtic releasing that statement, it did nothing to help. If anything, it just angered the fan base more.
A group has now been set up, dedicated to taking down the current regime.
Celtic find themselves 2-0 up at half-time, thanks to goals from Yang and Scales.
The South Korean opened the scoring at the back post, while Scales’ header was too powerful for the Thistle ‘keeper.
