It was the saga of early summer when David Turnbull was set to sign for Celtic but then decided against it and went down to Norwich. At the time, there was so much press around this Celtic felt compelled to tweet out a message to the support about the deal they had offered Turnbull. The move looked dead in the water with the player down south talking to the Premier League club. At the last minute, David had a change of heart and told his agents he wanted the Celtic move – the deal was back on and Neil Lennon appeared on Sky Sports saying he was in the building and ready to sign.

A picture of David was leaked online sitting in the Celtic boardroom with a Celtic shirt on, presumably taking part in an interview on becoming Neil Lennon’s first summer signing.

When the player went to do his medical, most things went fine but a scan flagged something in Turnbull’s foot that made Celtic think twice about the deal. The scan made it clear the player needed surgery and a lengthy time out of football. Celtic tried to rearrange a deal which would see the bhoys take him on loan and then buy him at the end of this season if his injury holds up. Motherwell weren’t for it because there was no guarantee Celtic would buy the buy the midfielder at the end of the loan deal.

Now sitting in November, the £2m rated player (TransferMarkt) has had the surgery and is off crutches. Could the move finally be back on or good in January all going well?

Considering Celtic still tried to buy the player after the injury became clear means Neil Lennon was desperate to get David in. Five months is a long time in football but you never know.
