Brendan Rodgers is making a habit of walking away from Celtic players.

The Irishman looked set to bring in Odsonne Edouard from Celtic to Leicester this summer, reuniting with the Frenchman.

However, after weeks of talks, Rodgers has reportedly ditched the idea of bringing in his former Celtic striker and has made a move for another frontman instead.

MailSport report, Leicester have pulled out of a move for the Celtic striker and have turned their attention to Austrian player of the year, Patson Daka.

The newspaper claims Daka and Leicester are in advanced talks over a move to the English Premier league leaving Edouard at Celtic for the time being.

There has been a suggestion Eddy could run out his contract and leave for a big money move next summer – leaving Celtic very out of pocket.

Players are incentivised to see out their contracts some times – it means a large signing on bonus for them and their agents if the club is taken out the equation.

Celtic will be concerned if this turns out to be the case.

  1. I don’t think having the best striker in the country available for Celtic next season will be viewed as a negative thing. Edouard will help catapult Celtic directly into the Champions League next season then can leave with our best wishes. He could also sign an extension and that would allow Celtic to make a lot of money next summer. Either way it’s all good for the club.
