There’s much debate among the Celtic support of how good a job Ronny Deila did. One thing that is beyond debate is his hand in Kieran Tierneys development.

During an interview with BT Sport Ronny was candid about how his left back was being used.

KT was a struggling winger in and out of the youth team the before Ronny pulled rank on the youth team coach and moved him to fullback. The rest, as they say, is history.

“I remember he played on left wing in the 2nd team, and I told the manager that he has to play full back”

“He is a fullback but he wanted to play him on wing because another full back there was ok and that’s what’s best for the team.”

”I said I don’t care about the team, it is development and you have to get players to the first team. That’s the youth department it is one task, it’s not to win trophies only,”

”I don’t think it’s the important thing, the important thing is to develop first team players and the Tierney started to play left back”

Ronny may have not got everything right but he got Tierney where he needed to be.

  1. I’m my eyes Robbie did ok, he’s did what was asked of him. His team played to their expectations, given what was before them. He was caught napping on more than one occasion, but the team got themselves out if it. The twelth man also helped him. But they also buried him too.
    Good luck to Roarin Ronnie.
