JEREMIE FRIMPONG’s comments on Celtic’s season from hell have confirmed to many supporters what they had feared from early on in the season – some of the players just didn’t get what this season meant.

Jeremie talks about Celtic winning everything for so long and it was bound to come to an end at some point, almost shrugging his shoulders at a season Celtic fans were anticipating for a decade. This wasn’t just any other season, this was thee season.

The Bayer Leverkusen defender clearly didn’t get what it was about and we suspect a lot of the players found it hard to grasp the backlash after things started going wrong.

Celtic fans know very well we can’t win forever, I don’t think any sporting franchise could survive if they won year in, year out. There are cycles in football and we get that, but the lack of fight and the ‘no big deal’ attitude from Jeremie which also was a theme of Neil Lennon’s interviews is just so frustrating.

Ultimately, we go again, but this season won’t be remembered as a club giving it’s all to beat a record made by Jock Stein and his history-making side. It will go down as a season of self-harm and implosion, where we could have corrected course but we just didn’t have the right people in charge.

Not that it matters to Jeremie now.
