LIAM HENDERSON is going about his career away from the watchful eye of the UK press with not many interested in covering the former Celtic youth star.

Liam took the bold decision to leave Celtic for Italy back in late 2017 and has settled at Hellas Verona after a 6-month stint at troubled Bari.

The midfielder who famously won the Scottish Cup with Hibernian while he was on-loan at the Edinburgh outfit has settled well in Italy and is currently trying to help Verona gain promotion to Serie A.

Not many people will know Joe Jordan is considered a Verona legend for his time spent at the Italian club back in the 80s after his days at AC Milan and the Scot popped in to see his old club this week and of course, he made sure he spoke to Liam while he was there.

Liam’s younger brother Ewan recently signed a new three-year deal with Celtic and has made an appearance from the bench for the first team.

It didn’t work out for Liam at Parkhead, but he should be applauded for not sticking about in Scottish or even lower league English football and instead, taking the road less travelled.

The player has made 15 appearances for Verona this term, scoring two. With the club sitting four points off the top of Serie B, there could very well be a Scot playing in Italy’s top flight next season.
