KARAMOKO DEMBELE made his return to first-team action in Celtic’s 2-0 win over St Mirren on Wednesday night.

The winger spent the first half of the season out after he sustained an injury in pre-season. Returning to training in January, he regained his fitness with the B team and scored in the Glasgow Cup.

He has played for Postecoglou’s first team and will be itching for more action. The Celtic manager has revealed that he may need to rejoin the B side to regain his fitness levels.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Ange said;

‘The idea is that we will try to get him more game time in the B team to build his fitness up. As I said, he was one of the ones I was looking forward to working with, but unfortunately, the pre-season injury meant he’s missed the majority of the season. He’s been training with us since he’s been back healthy, he’s looking good in training.

‘We’ve got competition in those wide areas and depth. So that’s a challenge. Mikey Johnston is back training.

‘With those kind of players it’s a case of giving opportunities and allowing him to develop and see how far their progress goes.’

He has reassured fans that Karamoko will be given opportunities, but with his contract expiring in a couple of months, time is running low for the club and the winger.

It’s unlikely the England youth international will extend his stay at Celtic. However, valuable minutes could change his mind. Ange has said that he will never persuade a player to stay at Celtic; the club should be a big enough pull.
