Speaking after the 2-1 defeat to Sydney FC, Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou delivered a fresh injury update [Daily Record].

There was a few regular first team players missing from the Celtic squad due to the World Cup but Joe Hart and Giorgos Giakoumakis were also absent from the team.

Hart’s unavailability meant that Hoops number two Benjamin Siegrist was given the full 90 minutes against Sydney FC with the crossbar coming to his rescue on more than one occasion.

Postecoglou wasn’t too concerned and explained that the former Manchester City stopped was missing as he was feeling a bit sore after the 2-1 victory over Ross County at the weekend although he has travelled to Australia.

Many thought Hart had just been left out to make way for the other Celtic keepers but one injury which did cause some concern earlier this morning was the absence of Greek forward Giorgos Giakoumakis as he was also posted missing from training yesterday

The 27-year old missed the match against Sydney FC due to an infected toe but like Hart could still be in line to face Everton on Sunday in the Hoops second and final game of the tournament.

Moritz Jenz suffered a head knock at the weekend as is training individually but shall be assessed at the weekend.

Postecoglou wants to use this time to prepare players for the second half of the season and it will be important to him to have as many players available as possible.
