Ange Postecoglou has delivered his latest update on the return of Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi, with the international break being the target for the 27-year old.

The Japanese internationalist has been missing from action since picking up his recurring hamstring injury on boxing day against St Johnstone, as Postecoglou was made to work with a threadbare side due to covid related issues.

Earlier today, it was revealed by Japanese boss Hajime Moriyasu that Kyogo is progressing well in his rehab but is not quite ready to make his return to action just yet.

Speaking to Sky Sports this afternoon, the Celtic boss gave his latest update on the progress of the Celtic star, providing a potential timeline for his injury return, with the next international break being targeted.

“I wouldn’t put any timeframes on it. Kyogo, it’s just his nature; he’s working really hard to get back as soon as possible.

“Whether that’s during the next international break or just after, we’ll have to wait and see. He won’t be far off.

“I have a really good relationship with the Japanese manager; I’ve known him for quite a while. He’s been really supportive of our stance.

Kyogo is working really hard, but I wouldn’t put any timeframe on it.”

As expected, with Ange’s previous comments regarding the injury of Kyogo Furuhashi, the frontman is still several weeks away from a return.

Postecoglou has previously stated that Kyogo is a few weeks behind fellow Celtic teammate David Turnbull, who is still awaiting his return from injury.

Whilst it has been frustrating to be without one of Ange’s key summer signings, it will be a massive boost if we are able to see him back amongst the side in the final run-in for the season, where he could play a crucial part.
