Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has delivered a positive short update on the progress of Hoops midfielder David Turnbull.
The 22-year old was a regular in the midfield for Postecoglou during the first half of the campaign, playing every competitive fixture under the ex Socceroos boss, up until his injury in the middle of December.
During the 2-1 win over Hibernian in the Premier Sports cup final at Hampden Park, Turnbull was forced off due to a serious hamstring injury, which has kept him out of action ever since.
However, the Scotland internationalist appears to be edging closer to a return, with Postecoglou providing his latest update on Turnbull’s progress back from injury, revealing that he should be back in first-team training soon.
As quoted by the Daily Record, the Australian boss said: “Turnbull is almost back training.”
Turnbull had a big part to play in the early success under Ange, so I am sure the 56-year old will be looking forward to welcoming the former Motherwell man back into the fold.
Alongside the likes of Reo Hatate, Tom Rogic and Matt O’Riley, Postecoglou will have several quality options to work with for the crucial run-in to the end of the season, which will see the Hoops fight for the Scottish Premiership title.
Hopefully, we see the midfielder back in training over the next few weeks, which might also provide as an indicator as to when another fellow Celtic teammate, Kyogo Furuhashi, might be returning.
