Celtic manager Ange Postecoglouhas has stated that he doesn’t seek the approval of former managers such as Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon but is delighted to hear their positive comments about his side.

Over the past few months, ex Hoops boss Neil Lennon, who departed the club almost one year ago, has had a lot to say about Postecoglou throughout his first six months as his replacement as permanent manager.

More recently, the 50-year old was full of praise for the former Socceroos boss and his side after their impressive display in the 3-0 Glasgow derby victory against Rangers.

As quoted by the Scotsman, Postecoglou insisted that approval isn’t something he is on the lookout for when doing his job as Celtic manager. However, the 56-year old did also state he was happy to hear their positive comments that suggests he is taking the club in the right direction.

“The approval thing is not something that I think about a lot, but they are two people who were very, very successful at this football club.

“Neil Lennon is a Celtic man. He was here as a player and a manager. Part of my role at this football club is to represent everyone at this football club including past players and managers.

“Hopefully, I produce a team that they are proud of because they will always be associated with this club, and I know that they want this club to do well.

“If I’m pleasing them, then I’m happy because it means I’m taking the club in the right direction.”

Whenever Postecoglou speaks to the media, he always seems to hit the nail on the head.

It could be very easy for Ange to talk up or point out previous comments, but instead, he chooses to block out all the noise and focus on the job at hand.

He may not look for the approval of others who were involved within the club, but as he says, it clearly shows he is doing something right with all the praise coming his way after his side’s performances earlier in the season.

One side Ange has had most of the approval from is the Celtic supporters, who will continue to back the Celtic manager and his group of players as they push to bring the title back to Celtic Park in the second half of the campaign.
